Bake sales, unfortunately, have become something of the past but if you would happen to need a bounty of great bake sale ideas….this is the cookbook for you.  At the very beginning you will read about bake sale basics such as general baking guidelines, measuring, melting, storing and freezing, decorating and packaging…just to name a few.  If you are not looking for those bake sale ideas, but looking for some delectable recipes using some of the best loved baking brands, such as Hershey’s Nestle, Duncan Hines and more…then you will find just what you are looking for in this wonderful collection of goodies.  There are over 350 recipes in this cookbook along with full-color illustrations and lots of tips for baking success.

What did I make?  Answer:  Double “Topped” Brownies.  I actually got most of the stuff out to make these one day last week but never got around to it until today!  My husband was glad I did!

Double “Topped” Brownies
Brownies
1 package DUNCAN HINES Chocolate Lovers’ Double Fudge Brownie Mix
2 eggs
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil (or canola oil)
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Frosting
3 cups confectioners sugar
1/3 cup butter, softened
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 to 3 tablespoons milk
Topping
3 squares (3 ounces) unsweetened chocolate
1 tablespoon butter

*Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease bottom of 13X9 inch pan. 
*For brownies, combine brownie mix, fudge packet from mix, eggs, water and oil in large bowl. Stir with spoon until well-blended, about 50 strokes.  Stir in coconut and nuts.  Spread in prepared pan.  Bake at 350 degrees F. for 27 to 30 minutes or until set.  Cool completely.
*For frosting, combine confectioners sugar, 1/3 cup butter and vanilla extract.  Stir in milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until frosting is spreading consistency.  Spread over brownies.  Refrigerate until frosting is firm, about 30 minutes.
*For topping, melt chocolate and 1 tablespoon butter in small bowl over hot water; stir until smooth.  Drizzle over frosting.  Refrigerate until chocolate is firm, about 15 minutes.
*Cut into bars.
*Makes about 48 brownies.
